Whether a student experiences music in the classroom, in the private teaching studio, as a composer, or in an ensemble, active engagement and participation is at the heart of the Music program. The department welcomes students of all skill levels, those exploring music for the first time as well as accomplished musicians.
In
Elementary School, the music program develops children’s innate love of singing, rhythm and dance. In
Middle School and
High School, the music courses range from the Introductory to the Advanced Placement level. Participation in ensemble music making is one of the most enriching experiences of school life and students have opportunities to participate in Band, Chorus and Strings at the high school and junior high levels. Private vocal and instrumental instruction is available on campus. In addition, there is an active senior chapter of
Tri-M, the National Music Honor Society.
