FAQ for Students

List of 7 frequently asked questions.

  • Why should I participate in the HT World Showcase Festival?

Because you will have fun! You will also gain further knowledge and appreciation of your selected country and learn invaluable lessons! Oh, and you will earn 5 community volunteer hours too!
  • Will I get volunteer hours for participating in the festival?

Yes! Each student who volunteers as an ambassador of a country by working a table will receive five volunteer hours.
  • How is each country formed for the HT World Showcase Festival?

A group of three HT students and/or teachers will be formed. Each group will adopt a country, research it, and become ambassadors of their country! Ambassadors can display items or artifacts and various information related to their country. They may dress in native or typical costumes to reflect the culture of their country. They will decorate their table so that visitors "enter" different countries as they make their way through the school courtyard. A small sample of traditional food will be offered to the visiting guests and their passport will be stamped by one ambassador of that country as to acknowledge and thank the visiting guests.
  • Will I need a table? And where will the tables for each country be located?

Every country/booth will be allocated a 6ft table. If you require more space for organizing food samples or displaying artifacts, you're welcome to bring an additional table. Booths from the same continent will be grouped together.

A map of the festival is available here.
  • What does each booth look like?

A “booth” consists of a table decorated to reflect the culture of the country in a festive atmosphere. Each booth represented should have its own table covering (disposable tablecloth or fabric), as well as artifacts, items of interests, visual representation and a sample of food showcasing the country’s culinary uniqueness.  A 3X5’ flag of your selected country will be provided for you and will be displayed above your booth. Some booths may be represented by a person speaking that country's official language. We invite and encourage you to be as creative as you’d like in expressing your country’s culture.
  • How can I sign up?

Once you have a team of up to three people to represent a booth/country, you will need to make sure that your chosen country has not already been selected! If you are currently a World Language student, please see your World Language teacher to sign up.

All other students may sign up with teachers participating in the festival: Mrs. Dykes, Ms. Petroski and Mrs. McDonald. Additionally, you can directly email the HT World Showcase Festival’s organizer, Madame Sacra: bsacra@htes.org. Feel free to stop by Madame Sacra’s classroom (307) any Friday after school to talk to her directly.
  • What is the sign-up deadline?

The sign up deadline is December 13, 2024.
