Spacecoast Business Profile: Dr. Katherine M. Cobb

April marked one year since Dr. Katherine M. Cobb took the helm as the first-ever president of Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, but even on her first day, she was no stranger to the school.
Her two children, Alex and Ali, began in Holy Trinity’s early childhood program and graduated in 2006 and 2011 respectively. During that time, Cobb recalled, “I served as a soccer coach, homeroom mom, member of the Board of Trustees and almost any other job you can think of. I’ve known and loved this school for so many years, I feel so blessed to have been called ‘back home’ to serve Holy Trinity.”

With a juris doctorate from Stetson University, Cobb practiced law for many years, then joined Eastern Florida State College as provost. Her personal experience as a Holy Trinity parent, combined with her background in higher education, serves her well as president of a college preparatory school that serves 862 students in preschool through grade 12.

As Holy Trinity celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, all eyes are on Cobb to set the course for the school’s future. “Since 1957, Holy Trinity has focused on educating and nourishing the whole child — mind, body and spirit — in the Episcopal tradition,” she said. “We’ve seen huge growth in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) careers in the last decade, especially here on the Space Coast, so we continue to incorporate these areas and expand upon them in our curriculum. Our vision is to have our students master core academic content while learning to work collaboratively with skills necessary to succeed in a global workforce. We also keep in mind our students’ need to be well balanced — to play sports, play instruments, take drama and art, and of course, to have the time to simply be children. “
