How do you feel you can help students to “Start Here. Go Anywhere.”?
I truly try to inspire a love of learning in my students. In my classes, we focus on the specific course contents as well as skills that can be applied to any discipline. Characteristics I nurture in my students are hard work, persistence, and dedication, which will help them “Start Here. Go Anywhere.”

What motivated you to become a teacher?
In high school, my chemistry teacher (Mrs. Hanold) pushed me to persevere and challenge myself and I want to do that for my students. It was the first time in school I really had to apply myself to be successful. I learned that I could be challenged and learn new skills and concepts to succeed. I also tutored a classmate in my chemistry class. I quickly found that being able to explain difficult concepts to others was a passion of mine. I wanted to make learning chemistry engaging, exciting, and a reachable goal.

What do you love about teaching at Holy Trinity?
I love seeing the “lightbulb moment” for students. When students think something is too hard or beyond their abilities, helping them to break down a complex idea or process into manageable pieces is the key. I love seeing students face a challenge and helping them develop skills to overcome that challenge. I hope those skills are something all my students carry with them as they leave HT.

What are some of your interests and passions outside of the classroom?
I love to bake, cook, and read. Baking and cooking allow me to express my creative side and try new things. Reading helps me relax and recharge.

In what professional development activities have you participated recently? Please describe the benefit of each.
I have recently earned a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida. Continuing my journey as a lifelong learner has broadened my knowledge of the challenges and responsibilities facing today’s educational leaders. Through the Ed.D. program at UCF, I was able to dive into deep and meaningful research. I was also able to build a relationship with local educational leaders, many with decades of experience at all levels of education.
