Education: Bachelor of Arts, Mars Hill University; graduate studies in Sports Medicine from Wake Forest University

How do you feel you can help students to “Start Here. Go Anywhere.”?
I like to try to offer students not only knowledge in mathematics, but also the confidence to know that with hard work they can achieve all the goals they dream of.

What motivated you to become a teacher?
I truly believed I could make a difference in young people’s lives.

What do you love about teaching at Holy Trinity?
I love the Holy Trinity Family and I love teaching at Holy Trinity. It is not a job. It is a way of life for me.

What do you want your students to take away from being in your class?
I like to paraphrase the quote by Albert Einstein: “Education and Mathematics is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.”

What has been your most memorable moment in teaching?
My most memorable moment at Holy Trinity was not in the classroom. It was at the very first track meet Holy Trinity ever participated in. I was an assistant coach standing at the finish line cheering the children on. It was Ash Wednesday in 2000, and as the children ran their hair blew back and off their faces. Each and every one of them had a cross made from ashes on their foreheads at Rockledge High School for all the world to see as they fought their way to the finish.

What is the best compliment you’ve ever received or could receive as a teacher?
I think the best compliment I could receive is for a former student to come back and tell me I made a difference and their life is better for having met me.
